This course is for beginners looking to learn a new craft and makers who want to expand their leatherworking experience. In this course you will:
- Create a leather tote that you can take home with you.
- Participate in a day and a half course including 11 hours of instruction.
- Get access to all the tools that you need to make your project.
- Receive all of the materials needed to complete your tote project.
- Use real leather sourced from reputable and environmentally conscious tanneries.
- Learn the skills to make another tote on your own.
- Get a solid introduction to leatherworking even if you are a complete beginner.
Making leather goods can seem intimidating at first, but we will guide you through every step. You’ll be exposed to the core skills of leatherworking so that you can continue exploring this craft and make projects on your own.

This workshop consists of one all-day session followed by a half-day session. The dates are as follows:

September 21 & 22, Saturday, 9am – 5pm & Sunday, 9am – 12pm

Our studio is located in West Berkeley, just south of the Fourth Street neighborhood. Berkeley is home to the University of California, the Gourmet Ghetto, many gardens, farmer’s markets, and a diverse collection of vibrant neighborhoods.
Our studio is centrally located in the Bay Area. It’s a 5-minute ride (Uber/Lyft) from the North Berkeley Bart and a 5-minute drive from the Marina Hilton. La Quinta is just an 8-minute walk away.
It’s a 10-minute walk to both the 4th Street and the San Pablo and University shopping and restaurant areas. And we’re just steps away from the closest restaurant, Tomate, and a short walk to the famous Viks and a great cafe.
